PHILIPPINE EMBASSY CONCLUDES 2022 CHAIRMANSHIP OF ASEAN COMMITTEE IN WARSAW
Warsaw, 21 December 2022 - The Philippine Embassy in Poland concluded its year-long Chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Warsaw (ACW), by hosting an ACW luncheon meeting at the Regent Warsaw Hotel on 21 December 2022.
The sixth and final ACW meeting for the year was focused on reviewing the ACW’s activities and accomplishments during 2022, noting the ACW’s success in raising the profile of ASEAN in Poland through numerous events and initiatives including the 55th ASEAN Day Diplomatic Reception on 08 August, various meetings with the Sejm Parliamentary Groups with ASEAN Member Countries, and the ASEAN Conference at the Sejm on 08 September, which was keynoted by the Speaker of the Sejm and by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland.
H.E. Ambassador Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz, as Chair of the ACW for January-December 2022, noted the cooperation among the ASEAN embassies during the emergency evacuation of each country’s nationals from Ukraine in early 2022 as a highlight in a turbulent year. The solidarity demonstrated during the height of the crisis greatly contributed to the successful evacuation of ASEAN nationals to safety from the ongoing war in Ukraine.
At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Basinang-Ruiz officially turned over the ACW Chairmanship to H.E. Ambassador Urasa Mongkolnavin of Thailand in a formal ceremony. After the luncheon, the members of the ACW and the Technical Working Group also exchanged gifts in honor of the Holiday Season and cordial best wishes for the new year 2023. END

The final meeting of the ASEAN Committee in Warsaw (ACW) for the year was capped by an exchange of gifts in honor of the Holiday Season.
