PHILIPPINE EMBASSY MEETS WITH MEMBERS OF POLISH PARLIAMENT TO PUSH FOR DEEPER BILATERAL COOPERATION

Warsaw, 15 November 2022 - The Philippine Embassy in Poland, led by H.E. Ambassador Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz, met with Members of the Poland-Philippines Parliamentary Group on Tuesday, 15 November 2022, at the Sejm (Parliament) building in Warsaw to discuss ways to further strengthen cooperation between the Philippines and Poland in various fields.
The meeting was initiated by MP Mr. Zbigniew Chmielowiec, Chair of the recently-formed Poland-Philippines Parliamentary Group, as a follow up on the success of the ASEAN-themed conference hosted by the Sejm last 08 September 2022. The ASEAN conference was held in collaboration with the ASEAN Committee in Warsaw, under the helm of Ambassador Basinang-Ruiz as current Chair.
During the meeting, Ambassador Basinang-Ruiz shared insights and recent developments on the rapidly growing bilateral ties, particularly in the fields of defense cooperation, investment promotion, trade in agri-food products, and cultural/academic exchanges. The Parliamentary Group expressed their strong interest in engaging closely with their Philippine counterparts and in working with the Embassy to develop and implement various cooperation initiatives, including high-level visit exchanges particularly in time for the milestone anniversary of Philippines-Poland diplomatic relations next year.
The Philippines and Poland will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations on 22 September 2023. END.
