PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN WARSAW CONDUCTS WEBINAR ON THE 2021 PHILIPPINE MASSKARA FESTIVAL

26 October 2021 – The Philippine Embassy in Warsaw organized a webinar entitled “The 2021 MassKara Festival: An Introduction to the Philippine Fiestas” as a prelude to the online celebration of the 2021 Masskara Festival that will go live on 30 October 2021.

The webinar was attended by representatives from Polish artistic and cultural organizations, including the Asia and Pacific Museum, Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, Modern Arnis Polska, and University of Warsaw, as well as a representative from Estonian Screenwriters Guild.

After a brief welcome and introduction of participants by Consul Alena Grace Borra, the Embassy’s Cultural Officer Imelda de Joya provided an overview of popular Philippine Fiestas that take place annually. The Embassy also showed a video of the “Fiesta Filipinas: An Online Celebration of Philippine Festivals”, noting that the MassKara Festival on 30 October 2021 is the 7th online celebration which follows the previous six successful Fiesta Filipinas virtual celebrations.

The Embassy also drew the participants’ attention to the Philippine products inside the Fiesta Filipinas MassKara Kits which were delivered to them in advance (e.g., piaya, otap, biscocho, mascovado, a Christmas décor) and which also contained the materials for DIY MassKara. The participants from Poland and Estonia showed the beautiful MassKaras which they made out of the materials from the kit.

The Embassy invited all the participants to the virtual showing of the Masskara Festival on Saturday, 30 October 2021 at 4:00 p.m. (Philippine Time), which is 10:00 a.m. Central European Time (CET) for Poland and 11:00 a.m. (GMT+3) for Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. END
