WARSAW PE SUCCESSFULLY REPATRIATES FIVE (5) OFWS FROM POLAND
30 August 2021 – The Philippine Embassy in Warsaw successfully repatriated to the Philippines on 30 August 2021 five (5) distressed OFWs who had been stranded in Poland for several weeks and were having difficulty going home to their families in the Philippines.
Against all odds and seemingly insurmountable medical and administrative requirements, the five OFWs, including two pregnant women, finally managed to reach Doha in order to be accommodated in the DFA-OUMWA repatriation flight which arrived in Manila on 31 August 2021.
From Warsaw, four of the five Filipinos transited in Prague on 29 August 2021 where the Philippine Embassy in the Czech Republic ensured they were able to safely and conveniently catch their flight the next day to Doha. One of the five stranded Filipinos transited in Berlin and was monitored by the Philippine Embassy in Germany. Upon reaching Doha, the five Filipinos were assisted at the airport by the repatriation team of the Philippine Embassy in Qatar.
In the days prior to their successful departure, Warsaw PE’s Consul General Mardomel Celo D. Melicor coordinated and facilitated the repatriation of the five OFWs and was assisted in their outbound journey from Warsaw to Prague by newly-arrived Consular Assistant and ATN Officer Ariel Esparto. END
