PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN WARSAW MARKS THE 54TH  FOUNDING ANNIVERSARY OF ASEAN

 

9 August 2021 - To commemorate the 54th Founding Anniversary of ASEAN, the Philippine Embassy in Warsaw held a special flag raising ceremony at the Embassy grounds on Monday, 09 August 2021, attended by the Officers and Staff of the Embassy.

After the flag ceremony and the singing of the ASEAN Anthem, the Embassy personnel posed for a photograph while holding in their hands ASEAN flaglets and a sign that read “ASEAN@54”.

In her brief remarks after the ceremony, Ambassador Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz noted that the topics discussed during the 54th ASEAN Ministerial Meetings held on 2-7 August 2021 via videoconferencing highlighted the unprecedented and urgent challenges facing the ASEAN Community, including the socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, security issues and climate change, which needs to be addressed with undiminished ASEAN unity and cooperation. She also expressed the hope that ASEAN will continue to grow stronger and prosperous and to celebrate its milestone 55-years anniversary in 2022 under normal circumstances.

Ambassador Ruiz and her spouse Ricardo Ruiz later on joined the Ambassadors of Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, and the CDA a.i. of Indonesia with their respective spouses in an ASEAN Day lunch hosted by the Ambassador of Malaysia as Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Warsaw (ACW). The event was conducted in accordance with strict health and safety protocols. END
