PH EMBASSY IN WARSAW PROMOTES PHILIPPINE CULTURE THROUGH FIESTA FILIPINAS PROGRAM

21 JULY 2021 - The Philippine Embassy in Warsaw has been actively promoting Philippine culture to local audiences in Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Ukraine through the program Fiesta Filipinas: An Online Celebration of Philippine Festivals”.

The online program was a six-part, multi-format event series which simulated the experience of Philippine festivals through a combination of live and pre-recorded videos and live workshops.  Organized by the Department of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Department of Tourism and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the program premiered in December 2020 with the Giant Lantern Festival.  It recently ended its run with the last episode aired on 26 June 2021 featuring the Lami-Lamihan Festival.

The Embassy invited people from various cultural and academic institutions to participate in the program, sending each a Fiesta Filipinas Kit which contained Filipino delicacies and materials connected to the festival and the Philippine province being featured.

Fiesta Filipinas is one of several innovative programs spearheaded by the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs during the COVID-19 pandemic, as a means to bring Philippine culture and sights to a global audience while foreign tourists are temporarily unable to visit the country.

The recorded series may still be viewed at the official YouTube channel of the Department of Foreign Affairs:https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlAu_HCwOunlHFyvaQIObiU9ioMGU1MuQ
