Ambassador-designate Ms. Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz led the singing of the Philippine national anthem

The Embassy of the Philippines in Poland led by Ambassador-designate Ms. Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz solemnly celebrated on 12 June 2019 the 121st Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence by a flag raising ceremony and singing of the national anthem “Lupang Hinirang”.

Ambassador Ruiz read the message of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte which underscored the utmost importance of the sacrifices of our heroes and martyrs to gain the freedom and independence for the country.

Deputy Chief of Mission Mardomel Celo Melicor read the message of the Secretary of Foreign Affairs Teodoro Locsin which reminded all Filipinos of their duty to the country and appealed to those in foreign service and overseas to continue working together for a better and progressive future of the country.

The theme for this year’s celebration “Kalayaan 2019: Courage of the Nation, Compassion for the people” encapsulated the President’s call for unity and commitment to our country.

A hearty breakfast of puto, corned beef in a baguette, quiche, and fruits ended the Embassy’s celebration.
