The Philippine Embassy in Warsaw attended the Polish Open Championships of Filipino Martial Arts on Stick-Fighting held last 28 November in Zabki, Poland. The Embassy took the opportunity to promote Philippine culture by mounting an exhibit on Philippine history and displayed posters of Philippine tourism attractions. Filipino cuisine, such as chicken/pork adobo, lumpiangprito and mango juice were offered during lunch. Give-away bags containing tourism brochures, CDs of Philippine kundiman songs and samples of dried mangoes were also distributed. A video on the Philippines was also shown. The event wasgraced by Mr. Robert Perkowski, mayor of Zabki as well as other local officials. Around 50 youngsters, whose ages range from 7 to 20 competed in the event. Mr. Michael ErmacStarosta, a Philippine Grandmaster in Eskrima de Mano flew in from the Philippines to judge during the competition. The Filipino Martial Arts Academy-Omega Sports is headed by its president Mr. Robert Kwiatkowski who invited the Embassy to take part in the competition. His academy also offers courses on tae-kwondo, self-defense for women, karate, etc.
