The Philippine Embassy in Warsaw participated in the 8TH Spouses of Heads of Mission (SHOM) International Charity Bazaar on 29 November 2015 at the Marriot Hotel Warsaw. The Philippine Embassy sold jewelries made of Philippine pearls, corals and other native materials. Most of the proceeds from the sales are donated to charities. Some Embassy stalls also sold raffle tickets for paid vacation trips to their countries. Polish First Lady, Madame Agata Kornhauser-Duda graced the event by visiting stalls and sampled some cuisines. A children’s Creche was organized by the Canadian School of Warsaw for children aged 8 and older. The school also prepared a concert for children. About 60 Embassies participated in the Bazaar. Guests were treated to a culinary overload with samplings of cuisines from different countries. Last year, the Bazaar attracted around 4,500 visitors and was able to raise around PLN 405,000.00 which was donated to about 17 Polish-based charities. SHOM was established in 1999 but it was only in 2008 that it developed into a more organized association with elected officers and by-laws. It is also in 2008 that SHOM started organizing the international charity bazaar which was previously organized by the International Women’s Group (IWG).
