A Philippine Day was held at the Baltic Container Terminal (BCT) simultaneous with the BCT Open House on 13 June 2015 in Gdynia, Poland which attracted at least 3,000 Poles from four generations: grandparents, parents, children and grandchildren which underscored the strong family values common to both Poles and Filipinos. It was launched by the Philippine Embassy Warsaw as an additional way to celebrate "Kalayaan 2015" aside from the 07 June 2015 celebration with the Filipino community.
The Philippine Day served as a platform for tourism, cultural and trade promotion. Among the products promoted were the Philippine dried mangoes and mango puree. An exhibit of Philippine posters with photos of different tourist attractions were set-up and the "Its More Fun in the Philippines" tourism brochures were distributed. Also distributed were brochures from DTI entitled "Doing Business in the Philippines".
The event was highlighted with Philippine dance performances such as the "Tinikling", "CariƱosa", and "Pandanggo sa Ilaw" which were showcased in a Philippine exhibit area. Philippine food such as adobo, lumpia, chicken lollipop and Philippine mango juice were served by a caterer exclusively recommended by the BCT to guarantee hygienic and sanitary preparations.
The "Pabitin" was also among the featured games for children which include a pirate slackline, eurobungee, photobooths, and inflatable castles.
Demonstrations of machines used in port operations such as fork lifts, cranes etc .also highlighted the event, including a ferry ride along the terminal.
The BCT is the single but large Philippine investment in Poland by tycoon Mr. Enrique K. Razon, Jr. CEO of the International Container Terminal Services, Inc.
