Businessmen and entrepreneurs from the Regional Chamber of Lodz - one of the major cities in Poland - were briefed about the Philppines as the “new rising tiger” and its potentials as Poland’s “business partner in Asia” during a seminar initiated by Philippine envoy to Poland Ambassador Patricia Ann V. Paez.

She was welcomed and introduced to the participants by Mr. Janusz Michaluk, Director of the Regional Chamber of Lodz.

In her presentation, Philippine envoy to Poland Ambassador Patricia Ann V. Paez showed various indicators of the Philippine economy’s renewed dynamism and the country’s comparative advantages as a trading partner, as an investment haven, and as a tourist destination. Amb. Paez also drew attention to the good governance agenda of the Aquino administration whose tenacious campaign against graft and corruption led to an increase in revenue collections.

Various Philippine key export sectors were promoted during the presentation, namely: IT-BPO and other services; electronics; agribusiness (food and other resource-based products); minerals; transport (shipbuilding); motor vehicle parts; garments/textiles; homestyle (furniture/decors/giftware); and wearables (fashion accessories/bags/shoes/jewelry).

Amb. Paez also gave an overview of Philippines-Poland trade relations and informed the businessmen and traders about the trade opportunities for Polish products in the Philippines.

She also told them about the wide array of investment opportunities in the infrastructure sector under the Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) scheme.
