Mr. Artur Osuchowski, a member of the management board of the Polish company Ciech S.A. - one of the leaders in the European chemical industry and the largest soda ash producer in Eastern Europe - expressed strong interest in joining the Polish Business Mission to the Philippines during the meeting with Ambassador Patricia Ann V. Paez at CIECH’s headquarters in Warsaw.
He informed Amb. Paez about Ciech SA’s plan to expand its operations towards Asia, particularly in the ASEAN region, and its allocation of US$100 million for this purpose.
Amb. Paez made a presentation about the present state of the Philippine economy and the vast trade trade and investment opportunities in the Philippines.
Mr. Osuchowski briefed her about Ciech’s transformation and its present scope of operations. He said that Ciech is the largest producer in Central and Eastern Europe of soda ash (a component in glass manufacturing and detergent production) and chemicals for crop protection.
CIECH Chemical Group is among the 50 largest Polish companies and has been a “player” in the global market for over 65 years.
“It was established in 1945 as the State-owned “Chemical Products and Equipment Import-Export Enterprise.” In 1995, it was transformed into a joint stock company under the registered name “Ciech SA” and in 2005, it was privatized and listed on the stock exchange.”
“In 2012, Ciech conducted an issue of bonds denominated in euro and national bonds with a total value amounting to approximately PLN 1.3 milliard.” (END)
