Philippines, Poland Strengthen Ties through 6th Political Consultations

WARSAW 15 NOVEMBER 2024 – The 6th Political Consultations between the Philippines and Poland was successfully held on 13 November 2024 in Warsaw. The Philippine delegation was headed by DFA Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations and ASEAN Affairs Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro, while the Polish delegation was led by Secretary of State Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Both sides discussed the ways forward following the visit to the Philippines by Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski and his meeting with Secretary for Foreign Affairs Enrique A. Manalo in September 2024. This includes increasing high level and parliamentary exchanges, as well as strengthening cooperation in the fields of security and defense, maritime, legal, agriculture, ICT, science and technology, and labor. 

Undersecretary Lazaro invited economic missions from Poland to explore more opportunities in the Philippine market. She also encouraged Poland to consider investment opportunities in the Philippines, particularly in creative industries such as gaming and animation.

The Philippine and Polish delegations also exchanged views on key regional and international issues of concern involving ASEAN, the Indo-Pacific and Europe.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing bilateral initiatives and further strengthening many areas of collaboration.  

Prior to the political consultations, Undersecretary Lazaro also met with Undersecretary Anna Radwan-Röhrenschef of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, delivered a lecture at the Collegium Civitas, and participated in a roundtable discussion at the Polish Institute of International Affairs in Warsaw.
