PHILIPPINE AMBASSADOR MEETS WITH THE FILIPINO COMMUNITY IN VILNIUS, LITHUANIA
27 April 2024 – As part of the Philippine Embassy’s economic and cultural promotion activities and in line with the Embassy’s Contingency Plan, Ambassador Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz visited Vilnius and met with members of the Filipino Community in Lithuania for a brief consultation and discussion on the situation of the Filipinos living and residing in this country.
Ambassador Ruiz informed them about the efforts of the Embassy in Warsaw to serve the consular needs of Filipinos under its jurisdiction (i.e., Poland, where the Embassy is resident, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Ukraine) and assist those who are in distress. She also highlighted the presence of the Migrant Workers Office based in Prague (i.e., the capital city of the Czech Republic or Czechia) which also covers the labor needs and concerns of the five countries under Warsaw PE’s jurisdiction.
She also highlighted the ongoing Overseas Voter Registration, which is scheduled to end on 30 September 2024, and encouraged them to inform other Filipinos that the Embassy is planning to conduct a Consular Outreach Activity in Vilnius sometime in September 2024.
