PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN WARSAW BRINGS CONSULAR SERVICES TO FILIPINOS IN RIGA, LATVIA

23 March 2024, Riga – The Philippine Embassy in Warsaw conducted its second consular outreach for 2024 in the capital city of Riga, Republic of Latvia, which was held at the Hestia Hotel Draugi in Riga’s Old Town from 9:00AM-4:00PM.

The services rendered by the four-member Warsaw PE Team led by Consul Geronimo Suliguin Jr. included passport, SPA, report of birth, and visas, as well as OV registration. MWO-Prague Labor Attaché Llewelyn Perez and Philippine Honorary Consul in Riga Dimitry Trofimovs were also present to support and assist the Team.

Addressing the clients who arrived in the morning, Consul Suliguin stressed that the consular outreach is a concrete example of the “Bagong Pilipinas” program of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., which aims to make government programs and services accessible to every Filipino. He also highlighted how overseas Filipinos could help the government in projecting the positive values of the Filipino, nurturing the feeling of responsibility for the country, and striving for excellence in everything that they do. Overseas Filipinos represent the Philippines and the Filipino people and the image they project affects how they are perceived by their host communities.

One participant encouraged his fellow Filipinos to take pride in what the country has accomplished, noting that Filipino overseas workers are positive contributors to the economy of the country where they reside. The consular clients included a Filipino-Latvian, Filipino-Lithuanian, a Filipino-American, a Filipino-Malaysian, and a Filipino-Spanish, reflecting the diversity of the “Bagong Pilipino”.

The Embassy will conduct more consular outreaches before 30 September 2024, which is the deadline for overseas voters (OV) registration. END
