PHILIPPINE AMBASSADOR JOINS THE MEETING OF POLAND’S MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS WITH ASIA PACIFIC AMBASSADORS
25 March 2024 – Philippine Ambassador to Poland Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz participated in the annual meeting of Poland’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Mr. Radosław Sikorski with Ambassadors/CDAs representing Asia and Pacific countries, which was held on 25 March 2024 at the Asia and Pacific Museum in Warsaw.
Ambassador Ruiz conveyed her greetings and felicitations to Minister Sikorski and deep appreciation for Poland’s efforts and commitment to strengthen its relations with countries in the region, including the Philippines. Noting that relations between Poland and the Philippines have now spanned half a century, Ambassador Ruiz expressed the hope that Minister Sikorski will soon be able to conduct an official visit to the Philippines, which will be his second since he visited Manila on 05 June 2006 as Minister of National Defense. Minister Sikorski noted with satisfaction that Poland has already exported sixteen Black Hawk helicopters to the Philippines with an additional thirty-two helicopters to be completed in the next few years.

The meeting also provided a valuable opportunity to meet and interact with MFA Secretary of State Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski who coordinates Asian issues, the Director for the Department of Asia and Pacific (DAP) Ambassador Wojciech Jacek Zajączkowski, the DAP Deputy Directors and DAP other officials responsible for the sections on South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the East Asia and Pacific.

The Philippines and Poland are also looking forward to the conduct of the sixth bilateral political consultations within the year, in order to map the progress achieved in the relations, further strengthen political, defence, trade, investment, tourism, and culture cooperation, and also expand in the areas of labor, ICT, science and technology.
