FILIPINO AND POLISH PLAYERS COMMEMORATE 1ST WORLD BASKETBALL DAY IN WARSAW
Consul Suliguin informs the crowd that the Philippines is the main proponent of the World Basketball Day resolution at the UN.
Filipino and Polish players commemorated the first World Basketball Day last 17 December 2023 via the Filipino Christmas Sport Event 2023 hosted by Filipino organization Pilipino-Warsaw Basketball (PWB) last 17 December 2023 at Konwiktorska 5/17, Warsaw.
The Sport Event was held with a view of commemorating the first World Basketball Day, and as a platform for fostering solidarity, providing essential support, and celebrating the rich Filipino basketball heritage, especially during the joyous occasion of the holiday season.
Four (4) teams participated in the one-day event including a mixed Polish team with two (2) women in its roster in the all-star event under the leadership of Olga Wanicka.
Consul Suliguin, in his short message, informed the Filipinos and Polish nationals who gathered for the games that the Philippines is the main proponent of the World Basketball Day resolution at the UN. He also added that the Filipinos' love of the game is bringing the community closer and connected wherever Filipinos are overseas.
The Philippine Embassy also took the opportunity to make its services available by holding ATN consultations and overseas voting registration during the said commemoration.
