Philippines and Latvia Discuss Bilateral Cooperation Activities

Philippine Ambassador Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz meets with Director Samija Šerifa, Ms. Ligita Davidova, and Ms. Anita Kaminska-Samata

RIGA 23 November 2023 – Upon the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Republic of Latvia, Warsaw-based Philippine Ambassador to Latvia Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz visited Riga on 17-18 November 2023 to attend the two-day activities to celebrate the 105th Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Latvia.

One of the highlights of her visit was her courtesy call and meeting with MFA officials led by Director Samija Šerifa, Head of the Second Bilateral Relations Department, who was accompanied by the Head of the Asia and Oceania Division Ms. Ligita Davidova and Desk Officer Ms. Anita Kaminska-Samata.

Both sides took stock of the progress in bilateral relations, notably on mutual efforts to forge agreements aimed at establishing regular political dialogues and consultations, as well as economic, scientific, socio-cultural, and people-to-people linkages.

Ambassador Ruiz also took the opportunity to present Philippine delicacies and handicraft items as anniversary promotional gifts for the MFA officials, as well as for President Edgars Rinkēvičs and Foreign Minister Krišjānis Kariņš. END
