DFA Turns Over Assistance-To-Nationals Functions for OFWs to DMW

22 June 2023 – The public is hereby notified that on 1 July 2023, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) shall be turning over its Assistance-To-Nationals functions (ATN) for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), in compliance with Republic Act No. 11641.

Under said law, all assistance cases involving OFWs, including legal or medical assistance, repatriation, and shipment of remains shall now be handled by the DMW through the use of its AKSYON Fund, except in countries where there are no resident Migrant Workers Offices (MWOs) under the DMW

Consequently, and to ensure uninterrupted service to our OFWs, the public is requested to refer to the DMW all requests for assistance involving OFWs (whether documented or undocumented) situated in countries/territories with resident MWOs.

For Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, and Ukraine- countries under the jurisdiction of the Philippine Embassy in Warsaw - there is NO resident MWO.

For all OFWs situated in countries above, the Philippine Embassy in Warsaw shall continue to be responsible for assisting them through its Assistance To Nationals (ATN) and Legal Assistance Funds (LAF). The Philippine Embassy in Warsaw shall also continue to assist all other overseas Filipino nationals who are not OFWs/temporary workers, but fall under other categories (students, tourists, dual citizens, permanent residents, etc.).

Labor-related inquiries and assistance, however, remain with the MWO based in Prague.  OFWs who need clarification on Contract Verification, OEC, OWWA, TRC, and assistance in all other labor-related concerns, issues or problems, may personally, or through their relatives, contact the MWO in Prague through the following:
