PHILIPPINE EMBASSY MEETING WITH PREMIER MARITIME UNIVERSITY IN POLAND

Given the strong common maritime traditions of the Philippines and Poland, Ambassador Alan L. Deniega met with the Rector and other officials of Gdynia Maritime University in the northern Polish port city of Gdynia on 18 November 2025.

The two sides pushed for maritime collaboration between the two countries. The Ambassador and the university's Rector Adam Weintrit discussed possible MOUs between Gdynia Maritime University and Philippine maritime institutions of higher learning, with focus on scholarships and exchanges between students and faculty members.

As the highlight of the visit, the embassy delegation was given a tour of the facilities of the university, including its modern, well-equipped rooms where students perform simulation exercises involving realistic operational scenarios. Another facility opened to the embassy delegation was the navigational simulator rooms, supervised by Prof. Grzegorz Rutkowski, who also taught in the Philippines.
